Cello Tutor, Performer
Ng Xin Ying was born and raised in Ipoh. She started learning piano at the age of ten and cello when she was thirteen. During her secondary education years, she was actively involved as a cellist in the symphony and Chinese orchestras of SMJK Ave Maria Convent Ipoh. In 2013, she was selected to attend the international music camp in Langkawi held by the Co-Curricular and Arts Division, Ministry Of Education Malaysia. She has also taken part in numerous competitions, such as the 21st Century International Arts Festival, Malaysia International Arts Festival (MIMAF), Euroasia Strings Competition, Ipoh Music Festival and Red Sonata Fiesta.
In 2017, she obtained her Licentiate of the London College of Music (LLCM) in Piano Performance under the tutelage of Mr. Peter Lim, scoring a remarkable distinction. Prior to that, she obtained her Grade 8 Associated Board Of the Royal School Of Music (ABRSM) theory at the age of 16 and Cello Grade 8 at the age of 18.
Xin Ying is serving as the cello principal of UPM Symphony Orchestra. She is also one of the tutti players in Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) orchestra. Currently, she is studying for her Bachelor’s Degree in Music at Universiti Putra Malaysia, majoring in cello.
